The macula is the functional center of the retina, the light-sensitive tissue lining the inside of the eye. It is located at the back of the retina and provides sharp, detailed central vision and the best color vision. The macula is the most sensitive part of the eye to light emitted from digital screens.
Carotenoids are naturally occurring plant pigments found in the macular pigment:
