Cat's Claw (Uncaria tomentosa) is a liana-like plant that occurs naturally in the Amazon rainforest. The plant grows mainly in the Eastern Peruvian Andes and in Chile, but can now also be found in other tropical areas in Central and South America.
Uncaria tomentosa contains more than 60 different correct substances. The most important group of substances are the pentacyclic oxindole alkaloids. It is therefore important for proper functioning that these are also present in the plant. The right plant species should therefore be used for making extracts.
