Safety Warning Anima Mundi Products

Safety Warning Anima Mundi Cold's Cocktail (Cold's & Flu) 59 ml, Anima Mundi Curam 59 ml and Anima Mundi Turmeric 142 g.

Dear Customer,

Analysis of Anima Mundi Cold's Cocktail (Cold's & Flu) 59 ml, Anima Mundi Curam 59 ml and Anima Mundi Turmeric 142 g revealed an increased content of 2-chloroethanol (2-CE). The values set are above the very strict and low values of the EU. We are recalling these products as a precaution.

2-CE is a by-product of ethylene oxide (ETO). 2-CE arises because ETO binds with substances in the product and forms 2-chloroethanol. 2-Chloroethanol remains while ETO evaporates quite quickly.

Outside the EU, ethylene oxide is used as a disinfectant against bacteria and fungi. In the European Union, this substance is not allowed in food. The FDA (USA) has different residue limits for ETO and 2-chloroethanol. They are much higher than the strict rules of the EU. So even if a product contains more than is allowed in the EU, it still concerns small quantities.

Consumption of a product that contains more 2-chloroethanol than is permitted does not pose any direct health risks. If you ingest large amounts of this substance often and for long periods of time, it can be harmful to your health. Frequent and long-lasting means that you have been taking it almost daily for several years.

It concerns the following products that have been delivered to you from February 2022:

  • Anima Mundi Cold's Cocktail (Cold's & Flu) 59 ml: batch 111023.
  • Anima Mundi Curam 59 ml: batch 122823.
  • Anima Mundi Turmeric 142 g: batch 030124.

If you still have this product in stock, we request that you do not consume it but throw it away. We would like to hear the numbers you still have, and a photo of the product(s) with the corresponding batch number, then we will credit and reimburse these.

It concerns only these parties. All other products have been tested and are OK.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

Safety warning Anima Mundi Chanca Piedra 114 g

Dear Customer,

Based on our HACCP hazard analysis, products are randomly tested by us. An increased lead content was found in Anima Mundi Chanca Piedra 114 g. The value found is just above the legally established maximum allowed.

Lead is a heavy metal and occurs naturally in the earth's crust. In the past, exposure to lead was mainly due to emissions from non-ferrous companies, through the use of leaded petrol, through the use of lead pipes for drinking water pipes and through the use of lead-containing paint. In the meantime, many of these problems have been addressed. However, due to constant circulation of dust and water, lead still remains dispersed in our environment. Lead mainly enters the food chain via lead-containing dust that settles on plants.

Maximum permitted levels have been set for lead in food supplements in the European Union.

It concerns the following product that was delivered to you from March 2022:

  • Anima Mundi Chanca Piedra 114 g: batch 122423

If you still have this product in stock, we request that you do not consume it but throw it away. We would like to hear which numbers you still have, then we will credit and reimburse these.

It only concerns this batch. As a precaution, all new batches are tested for lead content.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

Safety warning Anima Mundi Heirloom Cacao 170 grams

Dear Customer,

Based on our HACCP hazard analysis, products are randomly tested by us. Unfortunately an increased level of cadmium was found in Anima Mundi Heirloom Cacao. The value found is above the legally established maximum allowed.

Cacao beans contain cadmium, a metal that is everywhere in the soil, and ends up in the cacao through the roots of the cacao tree. Cacao beans from South America in particular suffer from a higher cadmium content because the plants grow on old volcanic soil where cadmium occurs naturally in relatively high concentrations in the soil. Cadmium accumulates in the human body over time and can have harmful effects on liver, kidneys, lungs and bones. That is why legal standards for cadmium in cacao powder have been established in the European Union since 2019.

It concerns the following product that was delivered to you from the end of April 2022:

  • Anima Mundi Heirloom Cacao 170 g: batch 102023

If you still have this product in stock, we request that you do not consume it but throw it away. We would like to hear if you still have this batch in stock, then we will credit and reimburse it. It only concerns this batch.

As a precaution, all new batches are tested for cadmium content.

We apologize for the inconvenience.
