Original Superfoods Tulsi Powder 150 Grams
For more than 5000 years Tulsi (Ocimum tenuiflorum) or holy basil has been considered India's "Queen of Herbs" and has been revered as one of the most sacred herbs in India, infused with healing power. Hindus view Tulsi as a goddess in the form of a plant bestowed with great spiritual and healing powers. According to legend, no amount of gold could outweigh Krishna's power, but a single tulsi leaf placed on the pan in loving devotion tilted that scale. Tulsi is native to India. It's a bushy shrub that grows to about 18 inches in height. Its leaves are oval and serrated, with colors ranging from light green to dark purple. The plant has delicate lavender-colored flowers, and its fruit consists of tiny rust-colored nuts.
In Ayurvedic medicine, Tulsi (Sanskrit: Surasa) has been used for thousands of years for its diverse healing properties. Tulsi is considered to be an adaptogen, balancing different processes in the body, and it could help for adapting to stress. Marked by its strong aroma and astringent taste, it is regarded in Ayurveda as a kind of "elixir of life" and believed to promote longevity.
It's best to make tea with this Tulsi powder. Boil 1 cup of filtered water and pour it over a third of a teaspoon of Tulsi powder. Cover the water in a pot or mug and let it steep for 20 minutes (or longer). Add honey if desired, and enjoy. Tulsi tea is caffeine free and can be safely consumed up to six times a day.
